Neck Pain

Physio for neck painAre you frustrated with your Neck Pain? Is it stopping you from sleeping at night? Affecting your ability to turn and drive?

We here this all the time.  It’s one of the most common issues we treat.

The most common cause of neck pain with referred arm symptoms is a bulging disc or spinal joint problem caused by poor posture. Many of us spend to much time looking down and siiting at ipads, phones, and laptops.

We also sit for long periods every day at the breakfast table, in the car, in the office and on the sofa. Excessive sitting puts pressure on your joints and discs causing pain into the neck, shoulder blade and arm.

Neck pain is common among adults, but it can occur at any age. In the course of 3 months, about 15% of U.S. adults have neck pain that lasts at least one full day. The stats for the UK are similar.  So neck pain is a common problem.

Neck pain can develop suddenly, such as from an injury, or it may develop slowly over time, such as from years of poor posture or wear and tear.

Your neck is very mobile and is comprised of many small joints held together by ligaments and supporting muscles. It has to allow movement but also withstand the weight of your head, which is surprisingly heavy (4.5-5kg).

This free educational guide will show you the 5 most common forms of non-traumatic neck pain and give you solutions as to how to deal with them.

Neck problems frequently refer pain to the shoulder, even down to the hands. It can include numbness, pins and needles, a sense of weakness in the arm or hand

Likewise a shoulder injury can refer pain up to the neck.

Fortunately you don’t have to suffer forever as there is plenty our experienced physiotherapists can do to help. We will assess you thoroughly and find out whats causing your pain then help you to get into the optimal condition through joint mobilisation, soft tissue release, exercises, advice, acupuncture or taping.

I’d just like to say how much I appreciated the treatment I have received from Steven.  A few months ago I was plagued with neck and shoulder pain but in a few sessions he was able to give me a complete understanding of the underlying issues and exercises that mean I am now pain free.  Great work.  Very professional and pleasant manner.  Absolutely recommend him to anyone looking for a physio.
